Hina Rabbani Khar was born on January 19, 1977 in Multan Daughter of Veteran Politian, Ghulam Rabbani Khar. Proud of her ancestral village and all that life gave her, Hina is a buoyantly zestful lady. A business woman by profession and hailing from one of the least developed parts of Pakistan.

Education
Hina graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) from Lahore University of Management Sciences in 1999, and received her M.Sc. degree in Management from University of Massachusetts, U.S.A in 2001. A graduate of ‘University of Massachusetts - USA’, she has all that it takes to be a leader.

Ghulam Rabbani Khar
Her father, Ghulam Rabbani Khar, drove Hina into politics, setting her on a different path from the hotel management career.

Profession
A businesswoman by profession. She had been pursuing with great zeal. She is a co-owner of the Polo Lounge, an upscale, popular restaurant located on the Lahore Polo Grounds.

Political career
She has her roots in Village ‘Khar Gharbi’ located in Tehsil Kot Addu, and politically affiliated now with PPPP.

Election 2002
She won the elections in 2002 from the platform of PML-Q and was the Parliamentary Secretary for Economic Affairs and Statistics.

Election 2008
She got elected as Member of National Assembly (MNA) in 2008 elections from NA-177, Muzaffargarh-II for the second time.

Minister for Economic Affairs
Hina Rabbani Khar has served as Minister of State for Economic Affairs for 3 years and Minister of State for Finance & Economic Affairs for another 2 Years – During these years, she was the lead person in Pakistan’s Economic diplomacy both bilateral and Multilateral. She successfully conducted 4 Pakistan Development Forums (PDF’s) and the 3rd World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF). Over the years – She has developed expertise in Aid Effectiveness.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
As Minister of State for Foreign Affairs represented Pakistan in the first ever strategic dialogue with GCC countries, OIC Foreign Ministers Meeting in Astana.

- Vice Chairperson of Steering committee for Studies on “National Trade Corridor Strategy & Structural Transformation”.

- Member of Task Force on Public Private Partnerships Infrastructure Finance and Development.
- Member of Ministerial Committee to recommend measure to further accelerate the efforts to enhance agriculture output.
- Member of Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) Pakistan

- First Women to present Finance Budget in 2009
- Chairperson of AHAN-Aik Hunar Aik Nagar – Rural Development Concern
- Served as Governor of Pakistan at the Islamic Development Bank

She is articulate, brilliant, enterprising, and very far-sighted even at such a young age. Moreover, she is humble, approachable, professional, and knows her job very well. At the end of the day, if we have more people like her in our government, perhaps Pakistan’s positive image won’t need any marketing beyond simply introducing them to the world.

Married to: Mr. Feroze Gulzar. Has two daughters Annaya and Dina.
